Stone with it's pastel earth tones almost always blends well with the out door aesthetic . Stone and stone buildings are part of our heritage, part of our ancestral memory, it represents permanence in a temporal world and since we climbed out of the primordial ooze we have been building with stone. Stone and and stone masons have built every fortress, or strong hold, every wall, aqueduct, ancient street, stairs and temple, oracle, church, harbor and bridge before the manufacture of modern cement and structural steel. The main benefit of both these building materials is not the longevity nor durability but speed of application. Stone is tied to our instinctual sense of shelter, a sense of order and pattern out of a seemingly random world. Life is full and brimming with impermanence and disorder, stone masonry stand amidst all of this in timeless order, a serene formidable calm. The world over all buildings of power are still and have almost always been built of stone for this very reason. Much of stone masonry has remained unchanged through the ages, mostly unaffected by our "march towards progress". At the same time our emphasis on speed has pushed stone out of most of the arenas it used to dominate in the building trades. This I want to change. As we race forward seeking pleasure in the immediate and gratification in the feed lot of more for less, we are neglecting so many traditions, so much of our heritage, so much of our wealth of experience. Stone is the original old fashion slow release, long term Big Bang for your buck, solid investment. It wears it well. It is the gift that keeps on giving. This is one of many pay backs of things built of quality.
Enjoy
